There is a hill in Lopaičiai, where spring is streaming across slopes, so I thought this was a perfect place to start my painting after a longish walk across thicket. I propped up canvas to a tree and set out exploring colours. Soon it started raining, but I managed to cover the canvas with the first layers of paint. After bringing it back home I kept being curious what I brought from Lopaičiai. The profile of a rooster started appearing and an intuitive thought came that an ancient Lithuanian mythological creature- Aitvaras- got into the canvas. A divine creature of a Pagan pantheon- the protector of atmosphere, water, especially clouds, which has a connection with earth and its’ wealth. A being, which carries material blessings.
There were also Laumės, from whose hands was streaming that same spring that I discovered in Lopaičiai.
The painting is talking about the realness of a mythic world in our layers of subconsciousness. We often encounter in this reality, we just forgot how to understand it and comunicate to it. And if you noticed strange things at home, leave some fried eggs on a table over night, because a fed kite won’t take long to bring earthly blessings to your home.
