Enquire about this paintingBehind the painting
After finishing a painting, I don’t rush to describe and publish it. When I give it time, the story of the painting reveals itself in everyday life. Most of the time, people I meet or daily circumstances provide hints and keywords.
This is how the main character of this painting let herself be known. I just had to be attentive to the words flying around me.
Laumė is one of the oldest Lithuanian goddesses of the sky and the earth, who fell to Earth. They are mediators between the earthly and heavenly spheres. Laume(s) rewarded people with material goods and sometimes led to destruction and death. They are especially threatening to men. Laume(s) communicated with the gods of the sky especially with the supreme god Praamžius and Perkūnas. The Great Laume was a goddess of magical beauty who lived in the clouds, sitting in the mythological center of the sky. There, under the Laume stone, is the water of life.
