The Mystery of the Volcano

Above the clouds, everything grows quiet. The silence of the sky arrives with such force that it lifts the crown of thoughts from my head. For a moment, I seem to rise beyond myself.

Wind whistles between the scorched rocks and sends a slight shiver across my back. I try to take in a landscape that feels like the world in the act of becoming. In the volcanic valleys, I see earth that has swallowed itself and thrown yesterday into the sky. A new day falls back, thunderous, opening the way for new life.

As I descend the mountain, the silence stays with me. In the space it has cleared inside, I can already feel the first suggestion of a painting.
