The New Sun. An Earth Virgin Dance With a Bird of Fire

Leaving my home, the sky became the roof. As soon as I looked up at this height, I initially thought I was falling. I looked for a place to lean on when I realized there was nowhere to crash and fall had become a flight.

We travel forever in our lives and beyond, maybe we stop to rest when occasionally we become trees or mountains. And where would you go if you knew this journey will last forever?

I went to the oak of Čiobiškis, it was evening, it was raining, and the nightfall mystified his image. I often see oaks as a father or grandfather, younger trees as brothers. So I appealed to him – please give me, Father, tomorrow, at least a few rays of Sun.

The morning dawned and the autumn sun shifted shyly around the edges of the clouds. I settled down to the oak with canvas and paint, now I allowed myself to fall silent. The oak began to talk.

He was talking about the arrival of a new Sun, because this one in autumn sky was getting less and less warm, everything around was dead. And the creative process itself brought me into cold, and unfolded darkness strengthened sense of loneliness. The only inspiration I found was the tales about blacksmiths creating a new Sun in the antlers of the deer. And I realized that right now one of these Suns is being lit with the help of a brush and paint.

With the formation of the composition, the woman began to emerge in the picture, rising to new life from oblivion, from the depths of the earth. Her spirit and life are aroused by a fire bird that has come from above, and for a moment these two characters gave me an association about Perkūnas and Lithuania. Several Mordovian (a nation related to the Balts) mythological songs mention the Perkūnas marriage to a virgin of earth named Lithuania.

The cold feeling of loneliness turned into a whirlwind of dance, which marked the beginning of a new Sun.

Songs, paintings, fairy tales and myths allow you to identify with their plots and characters. And as we travel through the roller coaster of life, we can turn into a rebirth bird, a rising virgin of the earth or a blacksmith, who creates his own inner Sun so that its light will lead the way to an eternal goal.
